Hornsea Nursery School

“Where children come first and everything we do must reflect this single goal.”

Kit List

There is the expectation that parents joining the outdoor nursery will provide appropriate clothing.

Due to health and safety reasons if the correct clothing is not provided then your child will be unable to stay.  Your child's wellbeing is of paramount importance and the appropriate clothing ensures their warmth and safety.

EVERYDAY kit you will need to bring:

  • Bag to keep everything in on their peg.

  • Waterproofs (trousers and jacket).

  • Warm fleece jumper/zip up jacket plus spare.

  • Appropriate footwear (including a pair of wellies) plus a spare pair.

  • indoor shoes / Slippers for indoor exploration.

If your child is staying the day

- Healthy packed lunch

for colder weather (in addition to everyday kit!)

  • Thermal base layer – leggings, long sleeve top and long thermal socks.

  • A thinner long sleeve top plus spares.

  • A warm fleece/wool long sleeve top or jacket plus spares.

  • Cosy trousers i.e. tracksuit pants (NOT jeans, these do not dry well) plus spares.

  • Waterproof mittens and warm gloves.

  • Warm hat and a snood (these are much better than a scarf)

  • Neoprene or fleece lined wellies or waterproof walking boots plus a spare pair. Wellies will not suffice in winter

  • Plenty of spare warm socks

for warmer weather (in addition to everyday kit!)

  • Long trousers (these are still a necessity to prevent scratches and stings) plus spares

  • Shorts (for those exceptionally warm days!) plus spares

  • Short sleeve top (covered shoulders to avoid burning) plus spares

  • Jumper (as it can be cool at the beginning of the day or in the shaded areas of the garden) plus spare

  • Sun cream (Please apply at home. There are some good “once a day” sun creams available too. In very hot weather staff will reapply).

  • A sun hat.

  • If you feel your child needs insect repellent, please apply at home

Please name everything!

If you have any difficulty providing the kit please speak to Mrs White.
