Snacks (including milk and water) are available for the children to have throughout the session. The children are encouraged to get their own snack, sit down to eat and drink with their peers and then wash up their dishes and beakers.
Why are snacks important for a child?
Snacking is important for children because their smaller stomachs fill up fast and they burn energy quickly. Between meals, snacks give their growing bodies the nutrients and hydration they need.
Why is it important to promote children's independence?
You also promote their sociability, allowing them to develop their levels of self awareness and sensitivity towards others. A major benefit of encouraging child independence: children learn how to help those around them.
